Meg Schwenzfeier, Secretary of Public Affairs
Meg Schwenzfeier is a sophomore and a government major at the College. She became interested in public affairs and the Williamsburg community during her freshman year as a Sharpe Community Scholar. She is eager to foster communication between the students and members of the community as well as to work to keep students up to date on decisions that will affect them over their years at William & Mary. Outside of PA, Meg is a member of Virginia21 and the W&M Young Democrats and also works at the Sadler Center information desk. She was born in Salt Lake City, Utah and also lived in Lee, New Hampshire before moving to Charlottesville, Virginia.
Danielle Waltrip, Undersecretary of Public Affairs to Williamsburg
Danielle Waltrip is a sophomore at the College, recently declared Public Policy major and Economics minor. In her spare time she volunteers with The Campus Kitchen and Williamsburg Engagement. She began attending local government meetings as a freshman for the Sharpe Community Scholars Program. This year, she is excited to continue her involvement with the City of Williamsburg and keep students informed about their city!
Keenan Kelley, Undersecretary of Richmond Internship
Keenan Kelley is currently a Sophomore majoring in Government and Economics. Keenan hails from the small town of Portland, Connecticut, and he loves the non-frigid weather of Virginia. He is excited to work with the Government Department and the Student Assembly to build on the past-success of the Richmond Internship.As Undersecretary of Public Affairs to Richmond, Keenan hopes to expand the influence and opinions of the William & Mary student body to Richmond through initiatives such as the Road to Richmond.
Outside of the SA, Keenan is involved in Virginia21, a non-profit, nonpartisan student organization that empowers college students to influence public policy within Virginia. He is also involved in research with the Public Policy Department. He is a Research Assistant on a project focused on the effectiveness of AP teacher training programs. Keenan has an extreme interest in education policy and teaching, and may pursue a career in this avenue. Keenan is also an active member in the William & Mary Pep Band. Go Tribe!
Stacey LaRiviere, Undersecretary of Public Affairs to Richmond
Stacey Jean LaRiviere is a sophomore at the College and is the Undersecretary of Public Affairs to Richmond. In addition to her involvement with the Student Assembly, Stacey serves as the Secretary for Phi Alpha Delta, the pre-law fraternity, Treasurer for the Panhellenic Council, member of Virginia 21 and a member of Delta Gamma. Stacey is a member of both Alpha Lamda Delta and Phi Eta Sigma academic honoraries, and is a government major. As Undersecretary of Public Affairs to Richmond, Stacey will help facilitate the exchange of communications between the College and the Virginia General Assembly. Stacey will organize training and face-to-face meetings with legislators. Advocating on behalf of the college and their peers, individual students gain experience, and the larger student body gains a stronger voice in Virginia public policy. Ms. LaRiviere, (seen here with her fave man on campus), hopes to become part of the legal scene as a corporate lawyer and believes that her undersecretary role is a great way to bring students’ opinions to the forefront of policy makers in Virginia.
Sarah Kathryn Atkinson, Undersecretary of Voter Registration
Sarah Kathryn, better known to most as SK, is a senior at the College, majoring in History and Government, and looking forward to serving as the Undersecretary to Voter Registration this year. She got her first glimpse at voter registration by working with the Scott Foster for Williamsburg campaign and was amazed at the power of the student voice. Her goals for this year include working closely with Exec and Senate to register as many students as possible and getting them to the polls on election day.
SK is a Richmond native and pursuing a future in law. In addition to serving on SA, she is also a member Delta Gamma social sorority and the varsity women’s rowing team, in addition to working as an Intramural Supervisor at the Rec. In her free time, she enjoys cheering on the Tribe in all athletic endeavors and cider walks down DoG street.
Anna Mahalak, Student Representative to the Board of Visitors
Anna Mahalak is a rising senior hailing from Monroe, Michigan – the mitten state. As a Government major, she has spent most of her academic career in lovely Morton Hall. Anna began her service journey at the College as a Sharpe scholar, and has stayed involved in service through participation in a Branch Out National trip, local service days, and an international service trip with the Bosnia Project. On campus, Anna is president of her social sorority Gamma Phi Beta. She has enjoyed getting to learn about a variety of aspects of College departments through her activities – from Admissions, to Development, and now – spending time with the Board of Visitors.
