Stand Up Campaign/Active Citizen Conference
Greetings on behalf of Office of Community Engagement and Scholarship’s
“Stand Up Campaign.” This year, the Campaign will aim to raise awareness
about key social justice issues, to honor those who have “stood up” for
social justice, and to help William and Mary students better understand how to
work for social justice on campus. The Campaign is Feb 7-11 and will have lots
of events throughout the week.
During the week, we will be putting up posters in the Sadler Center with
information and pictures honoring “Titans of Justice.” We want our campus
to be able to read and learn about key people who have worked for social
justice.
Email Marielle Larson, one of SA’s Undersecretaries of Volunteer Services at mrlarson@email.wm.edu with any questions or ideas!
And check-out the Stand-Up Campaign and Active Citizen Conference book display on the first floor of Swem over by the group study area. The display consists of 50 books dealing with volunteering, service-learning, and broader conceptions of engagement. Feel free to grab a copy of the booklists which have been included in the display; one focuses on service learning/voluntarism and the other on the social responsibility of business. Special thanks to Swem for their support in this partnership.
