Senate
The Student Assembly Senate at the College of William and Mary is in the midst of its 319th session!
The Senate is granted all legislative powers of the Student Assembly. This includes writing and debating resolutions which aim to improve the campus and student’s lives. The Senate also approves the annual student activities budget of nearly $700,000, distributed to over 100 undergraduate and graduate student organizations. Senators also act as advocates of their respective constituencies–representing the needs and fighting for the rights of the students they serve. The Senate is divided into five committees which focus on particular areas of student interest: Finance and Budget, Outreach, Policy, Public Affairs, and Student Life.
The 22-member Senate is composed of four members from each undergraduate class and a member from each of the graduate schools. This year’s chair is Kendall Lorenzen of the Class of 2015 (ktlorenzen@email.wm.edu).
